Not Home for the Holidays
December 9 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
“NOT HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS”
The Cambodian Advocacy Collaborative (CAC) will host “Not Home for the Holidays: The State of Cambodian American Families in Long Beach and Community Forum on Deportation”. CAC will release new findings in the areas of economic development, education, health and housing from the Cambodian Community Needs Assessment recently implemented due to the lack of disaggregated data of Cambodians in Long Beach, home to the highest population of Cambodians outside of Cambodia.
In addition to this, the forum will address deportation as another challenge that Cambodians experience. While holidays is a time when families gather together, in response to recent and highest number of detainment of Cambodians across the nation, the event will highlight how deportation breaks families apart further inhibiting opportunities to heal and thrive.
Community members and elected officials will be in attendance. Save the date and join our conversation and learn about ways to be involved. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign pledge cards to support the movement to #KeepFamiliesTogether. The event is free and attendees will have access to legal resources and Khmer translation.
