Brandon is a second-generation Cambodian American born and raised in Long Beach, California. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Asian American Studies, where he gained his passion for community storytelling through their EthnoCommunications film program.
At UCLA, Brandon served as the Public Relations Officer for the United Khmer Students organization and the Marketing Coordinator for their annual Cambodian Culture Night showcase. Brandon’s personal film work centers around the Southeast Asian American experience and our stories of resilience. His student short documentary, Cambodia Town: Not For Sale, highlights the community organizing against the loss of East Anaheim Plaza in Long Beach and has screened in numerous Asian American film festivals across the country.
Brandon is a recent fellow of the 2022 Armed With A Camera Fellowship hosted by Visual Communications in Los Angeles. Through his experiences in filmmaking and organizing, he hopes to utilize film as a tool to mobilize his community, as well as to empower SEA youth to find their voices as creators and share their own stories.
