Patricia is a daughter of refugees and a 2nd generation Cambodian American. Her family fled the Khmer Rouge and resettled in Long Beach, California in 1985. The sacrifices her family have made led her to become involved in her community and advocate for safe and sustainable living for immigrants and refugees.
In her 6+ years of involvement with KGA, Patricia came through our leadership program and led the Participatory Action research project on issues that youth faced living in Long Beach, which led to our Youth at the CORE Wellness Center Campaign. Furthermore, she has also led much of our electoral work and getting young people out to vote.
Since then, Patricia has continued to advocate for youth rights. She is a returning staff after giving birth to her daughter and is now a mother in the movement.
