Virak is a Cambodian male who has grown up primarily in Long Beach, CA. His family sought refuge in the U.S. in the early 1980s, fleeing Cambodia through the refugee camps in Thailand. With over a decade of experience as an educator-teacher-organizer in Oakland, Richmond, and Long Beach, he has passionately engaged with youth across all educational levels. He holds a B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Sociology from UCR and an M.A. in Education from SFSU.
His commitment to transformative education is unwavering. As a founding and core member of the People’s Education Movement, Bay Area, he has actively worked to contribute to dismantling systems of oppression and advancing the struggle for liberation. He is proud to carry on this vital work through serving the future generations of youth in the city that shaped him.
