Programs

KGA believes in the leadership of Southeast Asian youth to create social change. Our programming invests in and empowers Southeast Asian youth to become leaders in their community and their lives. We take a comprehensive approach to working with our members to ensure their holistic development. Our areas of programming are infused with an analysis of gender, class, race, sexuality and culture that focus on:

  • Community organizing for systemic change to achieve equity and justice
  • Leadership development to equip all our members with the tools and skills to harness their power and create change in their community
  • Cultural and media arts to explore and voice their experiences
  • Individual and academic support to ensure their personal well-being and academic and career success.
  • Freshmen & Sophomore girls in high school can join KGA's Young Women's Empowerment Program (YWEP) where we talk about our experiences as Southeast Asian young women and begin to build our leadership skills!
  • After being part of YWEP, KGA members can apply to be part of Youth Organizing Long Beach (YOLB!) where they develop advanced organizing skills and lead KGA's campaigns.
  • Young Men's Empowerment Program
KGA's Young Men's Empowerment Program (YMEP) is a safe space for young Southeast Asian guys to explore and learn about themselves, build brotherhood, and create positive change in their community!
  • Summer Organizing Institute
Every year KGA holds our Summer Organizing Institute (SOI) where members have fun & become stronger organizers!
