“It’s important to not only be aware of issues but also the current events. I knew that housing inequities existed but I had no clue about the Anaheim zoning plan. I really understood that it’s important to be aware of real life things that are happening and perpetuating issues. “
“Our families shouldn’t be separated because rent is too high. I shouldn’t have to fail or fall behind in school either. But this is the real price we pay when housing is not affordable. I know my family is not the only one who pays a high price to survive in Long Beach”
“I grew as a leader, especially with the presentations. I learned how to better my public speaking and become less nervous. I involved myself more when it came to group discussions and talking during meetings. I also tried my best to be social and include others at all times.“
“My experience in YMEP was very fun and exciting, we learned a lot about our history as well as make new friends and create new bonds. f you do happen to join, trust me it’ll be a worthwhile experience and you won’t regret it at all.”
“I took on challenges outside of my comfort and felt a need to be more responsible by being ready and taking care of myself.”
Young people want to have their voices heard! This OC youth organizer tells @TeenVogue why it's important to pass SB 299 in California #YesOnSB299 https://www.teenvogue.com/story/automatic-voter-registration
SB 299 is about righting the wrongs of California's history of voter suppression. We need @GavinNewsom to sign SB 299 #YesOnSB299
Let @LongBeachMayor and the Long Beach City Council know you want them to vote NO on agenda item #24 this Tuesday and continue to stand for second chances, smart justice, and resources that heal our community! Write a letter at https://bit.ly/no36 today!
Prop 36 would reverse CA's gains in reducing the dangerous, racially unequal, and unconstitutionally crowded prison population. It would dry up funding for much-needed services, including employment assistance, victims’ services, & housing. It would take Long Beach backwards.
