Our journey began when our families were forced out of our homeland due to historical and political turning points like the American War in Vietnam and Secret Bombings, which weakened the motherland and gave rise to a regime that led mass genocide.
When our families left the refugee camps, most resettled in neighborhoods that had very little resources and support.
The timeline of events in our journey emerged from a struggle to survive and rise up from systemic poverty and the harmful policies that disproportionately impact Black and brown communities.
We celebrate these milestones as building youth and community power! It is shaped by those who courageously led civil rights and social justice movements. And, it is a springboard for present and future leaders to build upon to advance social justice.
