Finance & Operations Director
Pronouns: She/Her
Chrissy is a 2nd generation eldest daughter of Cambodian refugees, born and raised in the heart of Long Beach’s Cambodia Town and a KGA alumni.
She experienced firsthand KGA’s impact as a high school member from 2010–2014, where she helped drive the Youth at the Core Campaign for a dedicated on-campus wellness center and emceed Yellow Lounge; as part of the cohort behind the creation of “Like a Lotus, We Rise,” inspired by Maya Angelou. That experience carried into her years at Cal State University, Long Beach where she stayed involved from2015: first as an intern advocating for the Fight for 15, then as a KGA staff member, driven by a belief that a vital, safe space like KGA should exist for generations to come.
Currently as the Operations and Finance Director, she oversees the financial management and operational efficiency of KGA and it’s Youth Movement and Education Center. Having watch gentrification push out members of her own community, She views YMEC as a landmark preserving the historical resilience of their resettlement, and a north star for the Southeast Asian community working towards the day that everyone is free of gentrification and displacement of families.
Outside of spreadsheets and operations, Chrissy enjoys discovering Astrology and ways to trace her family’s history and cultural lineage, a practice that deepens her tie to the community’s collective story and fuels her work at KGA. She also finds joy in discovering new media that captures stories of cultural resilience and change — a way of connecting with other people’s journeys alongside her own.
